Karen Frederiksen, 62, died August 27, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice due to a traumatic brain injury sustained in a car accident nearly 41 years ago. Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Frederiksen and the late Rosalie Reynolds and the step-daughter of the late Frank Reynolds. Her parents selflessly devoted their lives to her until their death. She died peacefully with her sisters by her side.Karen is survived by sisters Linda Chacon of Kissimmee, FL and Barbara Munck of North Haven, CT, the love of her life, Bill, of New Fairfield CT as well as many nieces and nephews and the many friends and caregivers at Ability Beyond and the Sawmill group home in New Fairfield where she resided since 1991.After her accident, Karen was in a coma for nearly a year.  Her hard work, determination and with the support of her family and caregivers was able to enjoy a full life. Her smile brought joy to those around her. Karen grew up in North Haven, she loved swimming, bowling, crocheting, playing cards, a cup of tea, French fries, and fudge ripple ice cream. She participated in Special Olympics for many years for Ability Beyond teams.

Burial will take place at 10am on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden, CT.
