Katherine Agnes Malboeuf Kras, 88, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Kras, Sr. She was born in New Haven on June 18, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Roland and Katherine (Fitzsimmons) Malboeuf.  Katherine was a lifelong resident of New Haven. She met the love of her life, Walter in 1946 and they were united in marriage on June 5, 1948.  They spent 26 loving years together before Walters sudden death in 1975.  Katherine was a wonderful mother to their five children, devoted to them in every way.  She was also a loving grandmother and great grandmother who took great pride in all their accomplishments and never missed a graduation or special event.  She was a talented seamstress who also loved drawing, gardening, knitting, crocheting, singing and also a crossword and Sudoku enthusiast.  She encouraged everyone to do their best and would always listen without passing judgement.  The memory of her strength and integrity will serve as a lasting inspiration for us all.  Katherine was employed by Robby Len Beachwear in New Haven for 25 years as a seamstress and supervisor.  After retiring from Robby Len in 1993 she worked for DelArbour Designs in Milford as a seamstress for two years.  During those years she was called upon to sew garments for many widely known ice-skating performers.  She will be remembered by her children, Sharon Hannah of Middlefield, Susan Ayr and her husband Duncan of Branford, Katherine Sopchak and her husband John of Milford, Janet Sabo of Middletown and Walter Kras, Jr. and his wife Deborah of New Haven. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Sean Hannah and fiancé Sarah Falconer, Colleen Roberts and her husband Corey, Melissa Ayr, Timothy Ayr and his wife Lauren, Steven Ayr and his wife Molly, John Sopchak, Jr. and his wife CrisAngela, Emily Sopchak, Erica and Trevar Sabo, Meredith and Dana Kras and also great grandchildren Cassidy, Carsen and Iris.  Katherine is survived by her sisters, Lorraine Grasso and Jean Busch and a brother John Malboeuf and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her son-in-law Brian Hannah, two sisters, Winifred Drews and Dorothy Downing and also two brothers, Roland and Charles Malboeuf.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday morning at 9:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
