Kevin Charles Beck, 60, of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on May 29, 1963, in Georgetown, British Guyana, to Angela Beck Anderson (Curtiss) and Charles Gholston (Juliet). He attended Lincoln Bassett Elementary school, Jackie Robinson Middle School and graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1981. Additionally, he was a lifetime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in New Haven, CT.
Kevin was an unbelievably generous, hospitable, and devoted husband who desired to help others. His daily spiritual and inspirational notes sent via text to family and friends were evidence of his faith and charitable nature. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and attending family gatherings. In addition to his family, Kevin enjoyed detailing cars and operated a car detailing business, Elite Detailing of New Haven.
After graduating high school, Kevin worked for Southern New England Telephone (SNET) for approximately 20 years and Quest Diagnostics in Wallingford for 18 years as a Dispatcher and Route Service Representative. Kevin was the point person for clients with high positivity rates, expediting transportation to the labs for immediate testing. He was passionate about his job and was nominated as an MVP in 2023 for his hard work and dedication.
Kevin had a very complicated medical history. His journey included a kidney transplant and non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis, treated with chemo and radiation therapy. He then underwent a hip and knee replacement. However, his unwavering faith and love for his friends and family inspired him to keep fighting.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Charles Gholston, maternal grandparents Frederico and Laura Beck (adoptive parents), uncle Frank Beck and cousin Quinton Jones.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Lisa Gathers-Beck; siblings Myles Anderson of Hamden, CT, Charles “Duke” Gholston Jr. (Melissa) of Columbia, MD, Bruce Lancaster (LaShawn) of Clinton, MD, and Evangelynn Edwards of Union New Jersey; mother Angela Beck Anderson (Curtiss); aunts Vernita McNeil and Carol Jones (Sid); uncles Raymond Beck (Jaye) and Charles “Chucky” Beck. I haven’t been in touch with Kevin, my Godson, for quite some time; in part because I live in DC. But my memories of Kevin are distinct and clear. He was good-hearted and upbeat. He was positive and warm. He was authentic and reliable…the kind of soul you’d be blessed to have in your life. I pray that Lisa and Angie find their own sense of peace because it comes differently for all of us. Take comfort and be assured that Kevin Charles Beck is surely up there bringing sweet joy to others.
I’ll always remember Kevin’s warm smile and being such a good person. I know his family will miss him forever but hopefully all of your good memories will lessen the pain. He is now among the angels making others smile.
My sincere condolences to Lisa and the Beck Family. May God strengthen you during your time of bereavement and fond memories bring you peace.

I knew Kevin through the joy his mother, Angie expressed. Listening to her talk about her son made me feel as if I really knew him, so I send my deepest sympathy to his mother Angie, his wife Lisa, and all the the family members and dear friends who were blessed by his life. Loss is difficult for everyone who experiences it so, I pray that your beautiful memories will provide the comfort that you need. May your faith sustain you all and bring you peace.
Sending my heartfelt condolences to the Beck family especially Lisa and Angie, may your memories of Kevin always bring you comfort and peace…Rest in Peace Kevin

RIP my friend, shocked to hear you passed as we just spoke not too long ago and texted as well. Always could tell you you had a smile even though it was over the phone. Your determination and will to keep going even with all the things you went through health-wise was absolutely remarkable, I remember you telling me you were going in for the hip replacement. With all of that and overcoming them but for just the man that you were, I am extremely proud to call you friend. I will miss you dearly and our conversations buddy, you were truly one in a million. I look forward to the day we meet again , thank you for being in my life as I started a family to now being a grown man. You always had great wisdom to share and I appreciate everything, until next time Kev!
