Leon A. Barauskas, 80, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the St. Raphael campus/ Yale New Haven with his daughter by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Hanchette Barauskas. Leon was born in Derby on March 26, 1937 and was the son of the late Alphonse and Anna Mulewicz Barauskas. He served his country faithfully in the US Air Force. Leon had worked for security at the former New Haven Coliseum for many years then later was an X-Ray Technician for Yale New Haven Hospital until his retirement. He was an avid bowler. Father of Lesley Paquin and the late Sandra Manley. Also survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law, Lawrence Paquin.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Saturday morning at 10:00. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Church, New Haven at 10:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

Leslie I am so sorry for another loss for you your father was such a great man I remember bowling in your basement when we were kids always had the best soda in the pool what fun we had and I am so sorry for your loss and I’m working on Saturday I can’t even make it
Lesley I am so sorry Scott and I said last evening…..No not again, although we knew your dad was not well. Leon always greeted me with a “HUG” and a smile . Leon a great family man and a great grandfather. Scott will not be able to attend he will be away. Leon RIP.
