Leonard S. Sanna, a longtime resident of Hamden, passed away on November 8th, 2018 in Hamden, CT with his daughters by his side.  Len was born February 4, 1929, in New Haven, CT to Angela Mazzara Sanna and Joseph Sanna.  He graduated from West Haven High School in1948 and later attended photography school.  Leonard served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He retired as Operations Supervisor with WTNH TV after 37 years of service.  Mr. Sanna was a member of St. Stephen’s Church for many years, and he served on their parish council.  Addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Michaelena Asarisi Sanna, and his sister, Josephine Rubano.  He leaves behind his daughters, Lisa Sanna of Wallingford, and Angela Burkholz and son-in-law Jeff of Northford.  He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Chelsea Burkholz of Hoboken, NJ and Rachel Burkholz of Dedham, MA.  Mr. Sanna especially enjoyed spending time with his family.   He was a caring and helpful husband, dad and grandpa.  He and his wife enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and many trips around New England.  Hobbies included playing cards, watching movies, and cheering on the Red Sox.  The family would like to thank the staff of Meadow Mills and VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Tuesday morning at 9:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Devine Mercy Parish at St. Stephens’s Church, 418 Ridge Road, Hamden at 10:00.  Interment with full military honors will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.  The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm.
