Louise A. (Carpentino) Akowitz, 77, of Cheshire passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle, on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden with her family by her side.   Louise was blessed with a large family and as the second oldest of eight children, she learned early on how important family values were.  Her selfless ways reflect in the fond memories that her family have today and forever. Although a stoic soul, she was gentle and kind and she always found a way to help elevate the pain her loved ones carried.  Even in her darkest moments she would find the light at the end of the tunnel and lift the spirits around her by trusting in her faith.  Louise enjoyed antiquing, crafts, tag sales, sitting poolside with family and spending time with her fur grandbaby Rex.  But most of all she cherished her time with her family who she loved unconditionally, especially the little ones.  She was the beloved wife of fifty-one years to the late Ralph A. Akowitz.  Although, their time was cut short on this earth only they knew how quickly they would be reunited. Louise was born in New Haven on October 5, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Mongillo Carpentino. She had worked for the former Lori Lock of Southington for the majority of her career.  Later in her career she started employment at MidState Medical Center, holding a number of a different positions but retiring as a Patient Ambassador where she loved her coworkers and helping people. She was the loving mother of Tina L. Akowitz.  Sister of Frederick Carpentino (Lucille), Louis Carpentino, Marie Russo (Fred), Marty Carpentino (Linda), Robert Carpentino, and the late Joseph Carpentino and Constance Curet.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all who of which she adored.

The visiting hours will be Sunday, June 5th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church/St. Paul VI Parish, Hamden on Monday morning, June 6th at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
