Mafalda “Muffy” DiLibero Sabatino, 95, of North Haven, a resident of Hamden for many years, passed away peacefully, after a short battle with Cancer, on Friday, December 8th, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her loving daughter-in-law by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Mariano “Mario” Sabatino.  Muffy was born in New Haven on November 30th, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Maria Corvino DiLibero.  She worked for Nationwide Insurance for many years until her retirement.  Predeceased by her son Stephen A. Sabatino. Mother-in-law of Laura Jean Castiglione Sabatino Parisi (now married to Robert – who was like a son). Sister of Julia Carangelo (Pasquale) and the late Phyllis Mantovani and Antoinette Vollono.  Also survived by Gregory and Michael Schettino whom she regarded as grandsons.

The family (Castiglione, Schettino and Costello) would like to thank (too many to list names) all the Doctors, Nurses, Aides, Staff and Friends, at all facilities that cared for Muffy. Those included Yale, Smilow and St. Raphael’s hospitals, The Grimes Rehab Center, The Landing where she recently relocated to and loved living, Acti-Kare In Home Care, Constellation Hospice and Connecticut Hospice.  Additionally, some very dear people in her life were Lee Vessicchio, Elaine Giannini, Phyllis (Honeygirl) Liguori, Jennie McLean. She was predeceased by dear friends Phyllis Olderman, Gaetano (Guy) Popolozio and Helen Kai.

Muffy was very active in the North Haven Senior Center, Hamden Senior Center, Ridge Road Seniors, she loved Line Dancing, casino’s, bingo and Mexican Train Dominos.

The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning, Dec. 13th at 9:15. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Paul VI Parish at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
