Marie Ann Coppola Zimbardi, 93, a longtime resident of East Haven, most recently residing at the Village at Mariner’s Point, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017 in New Haven with his family by his side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Zimbardi. Marie was born in Southington on July 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Louise Mastrioanni Coppola.   Marie was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and was employed at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven for 42 years.  She had many fond memories of staff and students at the college and loved talking to them and learning about their lives.  Marie’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, celebrating holidays and special events with them and talking to each of her children on the phone every day.  Marie leaves behind her children, Alberta King and her husband Martin, Anthony Zimbardi and wife Karen, Paula (Patti) DelVecchio and her husband Ernie; sister Edith Pelosi.  Also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Nettie Zimbardi; grandchildren Michael King, Adam Nuzzo and Scott Ingraham; a sister Evelyn Cano and brothers Albert, Joseph and Alfred Coppola.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 10:15.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00.  Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  The visiting hours will be on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.  Should friend’s desire, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
