Marion R. Thornton Kuntz, 88, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Connecticut Baptist Home, Meriden with her family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late  New Haven Police Lieutenant Walter J. Kuntz.  Marion was born in Bronx, New York on July 17, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Edward and Letitia Sherwood Thornton.  She was a former employee of the New Haven Telephone Company and later worked in the North Haven Schools cafeteria for many years.  Marion was a member of the North Haven Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. She loved to sing, dance, travel, cook, and just have fun.  She always had a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye, and loved to laugh.  She was loved by all who knew her. Mother of Nancy A. Kuntz-Manns, Ret. Wallingford PD officer Thomas J. Kuntz and Barbara E. Rivera.  Grandmother of Jordan Rivera, Jason & Justin Kuntz, Taylor Rivera and Samantha Manns.  Great-Grandmother of Ethan Torres.  Sister of James Thornton (Diane).  Sister-In-Law of Martin and Betty Diviney. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to the following individuals, Marion’s Angels: Donna, Marlene, Khalilah, and Lisa, the staff at Connecticut Baptist Home, MidState Medical Center, the Franciscan Hospice Care, and a special thanks to her other daughters Mary, Elizabeth, and Francine.  We are indebted to each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Friday morning at 9:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd. Ste 4B., Southington, CT  06489.
