Martin T. O’Keefe, 79, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Karen Davitt O’Keefe. Martin was born in New Haven on July 17, 1941 and was the son of the late James and Delia Carey O’Keefe. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Martin worked for the New Haven Police Department until his retirement in 1991 and later worked in the Department of Police and Protective Services for Yale New Haven Hospital until 2015. He was a member of the Emerald Society, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and enjoyed taking many road trips with the Blue Knights. Also survived by his brother David O’Keefe (Betsey), his sister Peggy O’Keefe Guerette (Sonny) and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother John O’Keefe, James O’Keefe, William O’Keefe, and his sister Catherine O’Keefe Flannery.
The visiting hours will be Saturday morning, March 6th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:30 (Masks and social distancing strictly required for all services). Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news of Marty passing. My most sincere condolences to you and your family. Had many great times with Marty in the Police Department and with both of you with the Emerald Society and the Blue Knights. Marty was so loved and respected by all his fellow officers.

times. Marty seemed to get a real kick out of our two grandchildren.Here’s hoping he’s gone onto a much better world, where health is no longer an issue and masks are no longer a necessity.
