Mary A. Trapanese Yaccarino, 94, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Louis D. Yaccarino Sr. Mary was born in Staten Island, NY on September 20, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Francesco “Frank” and Caroline Massa Trapanese. Mary worked for American Express in New York City for many years until she started raising her family in Connecticut. She loved her time in New York and was a true city girl at heart. Mary enjoyed listening and dancing to Frank Sinatra and attending many other shows. Mary was completely devoted to her role as a stay-at-home mom for her four children and loved every minute of it. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and playing cards or bingo with family and friends. Mary was an avid traveler, whether it be throughout the US or internationally to Italy. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church. Later in Mary’s life she became very interested in politics which was a passion she and her son David shared. Mary was always there to take care of her family, and spend time with her children and grandchildren who she loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mother of Louis D. (Tania) Yaccarino, Jr., Vincent (Liz) Yaccarino, David W. (Lorena) Yaccarino and Elaine (David) Ianniello. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Tony, David, Joseph, Robert, and Frank Trapanese, and her sister Anne de la Pena.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning, Feb. 7th from 9:30am to 11:30am at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Rd., North Haven at 12 noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

You and my sister Kathy were very special friends then decades later ever so close.

I know we spoke personally but I’d like to extend formally my sympathy to Louie, Vinnie, Elaine and Families as well as yours,David. I got to know your Dad quite well at the store, we’d talk over coffee, he gave me a lot of fatherly advice. I remember your Mom from stopping by the house, always kind and welcoming. They’re reunited in God’s Kingdom now, God rest their Souls.
