Mary Alice Rosa Zullo, 88, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late John D. Zullo who predeceased her in 2016 after 64 years of marriage. She was born in New Haven on January 21st, 1934, daughter of Ernest R. and Rita A. (Kendall) Rosa. Alice was raised in New Haven, CT and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. She met John at a CYO event where he sat alone in the back when chaperoning his sister. True to her spirit, she went right up to him to say hello, and their love story began.  Alice was a long-time parishioner at St. Therese Church in North Haven, now St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish. She served as a catechism teacher and a eucharistic minister, and she was an enthusiastic participant in the church choir. She loved to sing and had the most beautiful voice that rang out the loudest at any church service she attended. Alice was a beloved driver and classroom aide at ACES Village School in North Haven for over 20 years. She was an avid reader who could often be found reading multiple books at a time, and she loved swimming at the Healthtrax Pool. As the matriarch of our large family, she hosted Sunday pasta and meatballs every Sunday up until her passing. She loved playing Canasta every Thursday with her sisters, clipping coupons, doing the daily Crossword in the New Haven Register, and watching the birds in her yard.  She is survived by seven of her children, Noella (Thomas) Rhone, Cynthia (Frank) Bertuca, John (Dawn) Zullo, Theresa (William) Marino, Matthew (Lorraine) Zullo, Dominic Zullo, and Zachary Dylan Robbins formerly Alfred J Zullo. She is also survived by her two sisters, Constance Peters and Geraldine Bronner and her sisters-in-law Genevieve Dimauro and Christine (Bill) Criscuolo. She was predeceased by her first-born infant son John D Zullo, Jr as well as her brothers Edwin, Walter, Billy, and George Rosa, and sisters Lorraine Ferraiolo, Jean Griswold, and Doris Boughton. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren Katie, Matthew, and Robert (Melissa) Rhone, Frank (Lynn) Bertuca, Cristina (Christopher) Cassese, Angelina (Michael) Miceli, Jonathan, Shirley and Rosa Zullo, and Joshua and Phoenix Zullo, five great-grandchildren Tim Flanagan, Cole and Annabelle Cassese, Lily and Luke Rhone, and many nieces and nephews who will all miss her and her great wisdom tremendously.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday, April 4th from 4pm to 7pm. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Tuesday April 5th at 10am to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
