Mary Ann Cimini, 70, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday April 27, 2018 at Yale-New Haven/Smilow Cancer Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 2, 1948 and was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Collins Gross. Mary Ann was a 1965 graduate of Pittsfield High School in Massachusetts and a 1969 graduate of The College of Our Lady of the Elms. She taught in the Pittsfield school system before relocating to Connecticut. She retired from Anthem, Blue Cross+Blue Shield in North Haven. Mary Ann was a woman of great faith. As a parishioner of Saint Rita Church, Divine Mercy Parish in Hamden, she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a charter member of the Saint Rita Columbiettes. Mary Ann was well known for her kind heart and caring nature which touched many people. Many times she would fill her table with sandwiches for the homeless through the Midnight Run. Also a devoted mother and grandmother, Mary Ann took great joy in gift giving. Christmas was a family event of great proportions, starting with “the great cookie project.” Her greatest joy was watching others open their gifts. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ronald Cimini. She is also survived by her two loving sons, Scott Cimini (Cassi) and Matthew Cimini (Tiffany); her two loving grandchildren, Aidan and Anabelle Cimini; her brothers John Gross (Julia) of Altamont, NY and Paul Gross (Ellen) of Pittsfield, MA and sisters Bonnie Carnate (Gerry) of Aiea, HI and Nancy McIntire (William) of South Windsor, CT.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Wednesday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Should friend desire memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St. I-91 Tech Ctr. #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
Eternal bliss and health to my treasured friend. I appreciate this true friendship, and the fun times we shared together. DNA is not all that makes a family, but rather the connection, the love, and Mary Ann has been like family to me. I will always remember her for being a kind, helpful, positive person, making a positive impact to the world in her own ways. Her work was done, so God brought her home.
Sorry to hear of Mary Ann’s passing. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.
Mary Ann, we will miss your smile at Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cimini and Gross families.
Some joy has now left this world. God now has another angel. Our sympathies to Ron and Maryanns family.
Mary Ann, you made a difference. Every person you touched was more joyous after meeting you. We will all miss your smile and the happiness you brought to every event you attended. Our hearts are heavy at you leaving, but we all know that the Good Lord will have you watching over all of us just as you did in the past.
To my brother Ron, I wish you and the family peace at this time. We are all with you, always and forever.

My deepest sympathies to all of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time. I only met Maryann a few times . She was a very warm, kind and welcoming. She had a strong faith and I know she has asked God and the Blessed mother to comfort all of you.
Ron, I’m very sorry to learn about your loss. It’s been a long time since we were French 4 students at PHS. There were about 16 students in that class and I still remember their names. On the other hand, baseball follower that I am, I doubt that I could tell you who played each other in the World Series over the past five years (without looking it up)!
In Sympathy,
Hank Frydel
