Mary Passariello Lano, a resident of North Haven for the past 20 years, formerly of New Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25th, 2023 with her family by her side, three months short of 100 years old.  She was the beloved wife of the late Carmelo (Lou) Lano.  Mary was born in Schentady, New York on December 23rd, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Philomena Biondi Passariello. She worked at the former Adley Express for 16 years as a Rate Auditor and later for the New Haven Public School Lunch Program for over 30 years and during that time she became the 1st PTO President in New Haven along with being part of the dedication for Bishop Woods School in New Haven which she helped create their name.  The cafeteria was dedicated in her honor upon her retirement.  Mary was also past President for two terms at Steven Woods Association along with Vice President of the Association during her time as well. She was most famous for her Italian Night Dinners at Steven Woods and was a past member of the AMV Vets Post #45 in North Haven.  She is survived by her children, Ron (Lucy) Lano of North Haven and Cammy (Ralph) Nigro of Hamden, Grandchildren Michael and Christiana of North Haven. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great friends. Predeceased by her brothers Salvatore and Marco Passariello.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to her devoted, loving, and caring niece, Patti Raffone, her caregiver, Rose Fitzpatrick who provided her with the best care possible along with her love, and Maria Cusano for all her love and devotion.  Mary will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. She loved her family, friends, fine dining along with her passion for cooking, baking, loving life and dancing.  She loved to vacation at the beach in Cape Cod. Mary will be missed by all who knew her along with her kind spirit. To know her was to love her!

The visiting hours will be Friday, September 29th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Church Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Saturday afternoon, September 30th at 12:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
