Melissa A. Geleneau of Hamden passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden. Melissa was born in New Haven on September 19, 1984 and was the loving daughter of Roseann Carusone Geleneau and George W. Geleneau of Hamden. She is also survived by her beloved boyfriend, Andranik Valedi (Andy) of Burlington, MA, her caring Aunt and Godmother, Carol Geleneau, her Uncle and Godfather William, her cousin, William II of North Haven, her Aunt Susan Carusone of Cheshire, her dear friends, Christina Roma and Amy Lucibello of Hamden, and many cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her grandparents, George and Lorraine Geleneau, and Michael and Rose Carusone. She received a B.S. in Psychology from Albertus Magnus College in 2006 and her M.A. in Education from the University of New Haven in 2009. Melissa was a substitute teacher for one of the joys of her life, children, and she taught early childhood education in various towns in CT. She was fluent in Spanish and Sign Language. Melissa loved to travel and visited Myrtle Beach, Florida, and cruised the Caribbean Islands. She was active for many years with the Youth Group of Church on the Rock and carried out missionary work in Mexico and West Virginia. Thank you to all of her family and friends for their prayers and support, Dr. Joachim Baehring and the staff at Smilow Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Lesser of Southbury, staff at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, and the staff at the Quinnipiac Valley Health Center. Also a special thank you to Dr. Clare Cherney, Medical Director of Palliative Care at MidState Medical Center and the caring staff at MidState Medical Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend a” Celebration Of Her Life” at Church on the Rock, 95 Hamilton Street, New Haven on Wednesday morning, January 31st, 2018 at 11:00. The visiting hour will be at the church from 10:00 am until time of the celebration at 11:00. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Church on the Rock for Youth Group Missions at 95 Hamilton Street, New Haven, Ct, 06511, Attention Gail Roundtree.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. The Valedi family speak so lovingly of her. I’m sorry I did not have the opportunity to meet her. I have been praying for her and now my thoughts turn to all of you. Stay strong in your knowledge she is in the loving arms of the Lord.
What a beautiful obituary. Melissa was a wonderful person and I will miss her dearly. She touched my life in so many ways. I’m glad she is now free of pain and is resting with Jesus. I love you, George and Roseann.

I am so sorry for your loss. Melissa was a part of our youth ministry “Frontline” for years and was a blessing to Lisa and I. She was always ready to do whatever for God’s name sake. She was very caring and loving. I’m sure she will be missed by many.

I am so sad to read this and am so sorry to Melissa’s patents for their loss. Melissa was such a great friend since high school, I only have positive memories. She is now in eternal peace.
