Michael Anthony DePaola “Captain Deeds”, 62, of North Branford passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Michael was a man who lived life to the fullest and dedicated his entire life to his family and friends.
Michael was born on November 21st, 1959 in New Haven, CT. Michael was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a friend to all. Michael enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping, and was an active member of the Branford Yacht Club. Most of all Michael enjoyed his time with his family who he loved unconditionally. Michael worked at Sikorsky Aircraft for 42 years with people he loved. Michael made many life-long friends from his childhood, at work, through the clubs he belonged to, and through his children; every person he considered a friend he also considered and treated like family.
Michael was a beloved husband to Lori Ellis DePaola of 39 years, though inseparable for 46 years, son to Jane Minore DePaola and the late Michael R. DePaola. He was a father to Allison DePaola Drozd and her husband Scott, Michael S. DePaola and his wife Karina, and Robert DePaola and his wife Samantha. He was grandfather “Deeds” to Mason, Austin, Michael Lucas, Avaliene, Jordan and Roman. He was a brother to Joseph DePaola and a father figure to Phillip Cahill, whom he and Lori loved like their own son.
Michael would say “I don’t care what we do as long as we’re together”.
Family and friends are invited to “A Celebration of Life” on Saturday, August 20th at the Branford Yacht Club, 39 Goodsell Point Road, Branford at 10:45 AM.

Lori and family I m so very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. We were inseparable as teenagers. We were best friends in Whitney. I am beside myself over this. Time may pass but memories of great times never do. The last time I saw mike was about nine years ago at a dinner. We talked but we really needed to set a time. I wish we set that time. He had a golden heart and was a great listener. He always had great advice and his high pitched contagious laugh. I will miss my teenage friend forever. Rest In Peace Mike and know the many hearts you’ve touched over the years . God bless your soul . Love you brother.
Dear Lori,
We don’t know each other, but I am Steve (and Joanne) Della Posta’s sister. I recently spent the weekend with them, and they shared with me about the wonderful relationship that the four of you had with each other, and after hearing what a wonderful man Mike was, I wanted to send my condolences and to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Angels never leave us!!!!!
I worked with Mike at Sikorsky for many years, what great guy he was, May he Rest In Peace
