Michael Edward Olszyk, 33, of North Haven, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home.  Born on Christmas Eve 1989 in New Haven, he was the first son of Peter and Deborah Rimmer Olszyk. His birth created one family out of two. Michael worked as a conductor for Metro North for many years, carrying on a family legacy, and was a member of the Association of Commuter Rail Employees (ACRE). He loved the game of baseball and was an avid and accomplished player. He started playing baseball with AAU and later continued playing for the Hill Regional Career High School, where he was a two-time All-State winner. He also played for Suffield Academy. After graduating from high school, he played for Sacred Heart University, where he was honored with a Rookie of the Year award and for the University of Bridgeport. He continued his passion for the game playing in various men’s leagues across Greater New Haven. Michael enjoyed golfing and was a big fan of the New York Jets and Yankees. His greatest joys in life and the light of his heart were his sons, Luke John, and Matthew Robert Olszyk. Beloved brother of Brandi (Stephen Greco) Mandato, Allison (Dipo) Oseni, Tifannie (David) Suvoski, Rachel (Michael) Zarro, John and Adam Olszyk and lifelong friend of Paul Arce. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Pamela Olszyk, and is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His loved ones are heartbroken. We will remember him every time we jump off the dock, when we drive past a baseball field in the Spring and hear the crack of a bat, and when we see his smile reflected back to us in his sons’ eyes. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives.

The visiting hours will be on Saturday, November 4th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 5 pm.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a trust set up in Luke and Matthew’s names.
