Michael R. Simeone, 51, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving and devoted husband of Allison Aloi Simeone for almost 22 years. Affectionately known as “Big Mike” by his friends and family, he was born in New Haven on May 12th, 1970 and was the son of Joanna Fomento Simeone and the late Ralph Simeone. Loving father to his twins, Ava and Michael Simeone; cherished brother of Ralph Simeone; Brother-in-law of PJ (Amy) Aloi, Lauren Aloi (Jim Gianfredi), Kyle (Daniella) Adams, Rachel Aloi and Peter (Sindi) Aloi; Son-in-law of Terri and Bill Adams, Lisa Aloi (Dan) Fiasconaro and the late Pasquale “Pat” Aloi. Beloved uncle to Leah and Emma Simeone, Jack, Caitlin and Daniel Aloi, Joseph Gianfredi and Shade and Knight Aloi. A 1988 graduate of Notre Dame High School, West Haven, Big Mike had worked in the auto industry for over three decades. Nothing brought him more joy than his family, his dog, Chloe, classic cars, his Harley and a 2-pound lobster. He especially loved watching Michael play football and baseball with pride and Ava’s cheer team under the Friday Night Lights.
The visiting hours will be Monday, March 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Allison and Lisa, Allison I don’t know if you remember us but when you were a teenager you babysat a lot for colin who is the same age as Rachel. Of course we good friends with Lisa and your dad -so many fun memories….I just saw the post about your husband and wanted to express our deep sympathies. He was way too young and looks like a lovely man. I’m sure you had a beautiful family together. We are thinking of you. Would love to catch up with all of you one of these days soon. Time goes too quickly. All our love, annette and Chris
Annette, thank you for your kind words of sympathy and of course I remember you all! I just can’t believe I babysat Colin all those years ago and he’s almost 37!!! Would love to get together someday! Thanks again 🙂 Allison
I didn’t have much time to know him well, but my heart goes out to all family football-related and beyond. Ram pride never dies.
We are so sorry for your loss and all the pain and suffering you and Big Mike endured over the past 5 months.
He was a great guy and will never be forgotten
Gaylord for eight months and never went in anyone’s room Michael was across from me something in my heart told me too go see him. I went near the doorway of his room in my wheelchair .. I am the girl with no leg and no hands greeted me with a big smile I introduced myself and he started talking to me about his job family and just every day stuff. He kept talking and I stayed for about a half hour and I told him that I had to go i wanted him to rest I said goodbye to him and I’ll see you again and I was leaving when he said to me I was ready to cry when you came in and now I feel better I’m not going to cry and my heart was broke but yet happy that I made him happy for a few minutes I knew he was very sick but he was a lovable guy I just met a man I felt that way and I told him I’ll see you again Michael and every time I went by his room I said hi to him and then when he moved to the next room last time I seen him he was shaving 💙 that was the last time I seen him.. I am so sorry I feel like my heart is broken to a special person I could say and I know someone sent me into that now for a purpose for both of us
Carol,
I remember you across the hall from Mike. He told me about your special visit, thank you for making him happy and visiting him, even if it was for a little while. You had different medical struggles than Mike did, but both of you showed such strength facing them. The day after you visited Mike he was sent back to Yale. He did come back but in the other room down the hall from you, that is correct. Mike and I were so happy when you got discharged from Gaylord, that is a long time. Mike fought so hard to get back there, but it just wasn’t in the cards for him and his infections were just too much for his weak body to fight off. Thank you for going to visit him that day and bringing him some peace and I wish you all the best in your recovery as well! ❤️
Heartfelt sympathy to Allison, Ava and Michael and your extended family.. Your are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Wishing you peace.

Big Mike was such a great guy to work for and be with through long days. He and I were almost exactly the same age and remembered and laughed about things that we could both relate to from times past. I will miss him. My thoughts are with you Allison, Ava, Michael, Joanna, and his whole family. The world is a better place for having had Michael in it.
