Nancy LeGrand Battiste, 74, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife to Frank Battiste. She was born in New Haven on March 21, 1947 and was the daughter of the late George and Martha McMahon LeGrand. Nancy had worked in accounting at Oakdale for many years. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #9965. Mother of Murray Battiste and Marceline (Robert) Hansen. Grandmother of Blake, Matthew, Paige and Payton. Sister of Della Brittingham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by her stepfather Earl Brittingham.
The visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 7th at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 4 to 7 PM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. (masks and social distancing strictly required)
We were best friends for over sixty (60) years. I was the lucky one to have such a person in my life for all that time. She believed that we would see each other again, that’s what I’m praying for. She was loved and will be missed greatly. My heart goes out to the family and know she was able to see everyone on her birthday that was special for her. Love and prayers to all.
