Nina Lutz Whisler of Wallingford passed away on Friday, December 11 in the care of Connecticut Hospice at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her three children: Robin Keller (Steven); Kimberly Edwards (Scott); and John, a decorated Special Olympian. Nina was predeceased by her brother David and their parents, Bill and Patricia Brown Lutz. A 1958 graduate of Meriden High School, Nina was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. Like her mother and grandmother before her, Nina was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed local history and her heritage and was delighted to share these stories with everyone. She was an advocate for her son and for everyone with developmental disabilities. An animal lover, Nina was comforted to know that her beloved cat Maxwell was adopted into a caring home.
Out of an abundance of caution during the pandemic, there will not be services at this time. Should family and friends desire, donations may be made to MidState Arc (midstatearc.com) or to ASPCA (aspca.org).
Beautiful obituary! Condolences to the family from The Susan Carrington Clarke DAR Chapter and myself.
May she live on in our memories and in the hearts of her family

I’m glad I had the chance to know you (Nina). You had a wicked sense of humor. All the best to your family ❤️
Robin, Kimberly and John,
I am truly sorry to read of your mother’s passing. I have fond memories of her and you while coaching John during his time with Special Olympics.
Thanks Coach Glenn!
