Norma L. Criscuola Dercole, 85, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in her home with her family by her side. Norma was born in New Haven on May 10, 1931; daughter of the late Daniel and Mary DeMayo Criscuola. She worked for the former Union Trust for many years until her retirement and later as a Claims Representative for Travelers Insurance. Norma was a member of the Open Door, The Hamden Women’s Club and Lunch Bunch Group. She was always very active in sports in her younger years, especially volley ball and enjoyed dancing and swimming. She leaves behind her 3 children, Joni (David) Preller, Edward (Susan) Dercole and Cindy (Edward) Ercolano and 7 grandchildren, Mathew and Aaron Freier, Edward, Anthony and Brittany Dercole, Joseph and Lauren Ercolano (fiance Kevin Small), all of whom adored her. She is survived by her former husband Edward T. Dercole. Predeceased by her brothers, Daniel and Harvey Criscuola. Norma will always be remembered as the heart of her family.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00- 7:00 pm at North Haven Funeral Home (36 Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT). The funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery.
