Olga Mary DeCicco Penna, 92, of Hamden, formerly of Maple Street, East Haven and Deerfield Beach, Florida for many years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Frank Penna. Olga was born in New Haven on January 16, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Eleanor Vivenzio DeCicco. She had worked at the former Rock-A-Bye Children’s Boutique for 20 years. Olga was an avid reader, enjoyed all the old time movies especially the Godfather epic version and also enjoyed watching Law & Order on the television. Beloved mother of Richard Penna (Gilles Thibault), Judy Harbinson (Gerry) and Diane Longyear (Joseph Sargolini). Loving grandmother of David Penna (Gina), Brittney Crocco (Marino), Cory Harbinson, Michael and Rachel Sargolini, Tara Longyear and the late Christie-Penna Sittler. Loving great-grandmother of Morgan and Olivia Currie, Luke Sittler, Franklyn Penna, Gianni Crocco and Sophia Sargolini. Sister of Inez Gagliardi and the late Clare Sabino, Mary Moniello, Theodore, Leo, Eugene and Angelo DeCicco. Sister-in-law of Lucia DeCicco. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins especially Alessandra Novelli and family in Italy. Olga was devoted to her family whom she loved unconditionally.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Thursday morning, July 26th at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405

Richard,Judy,Diane and families.i can never put into words what your mother meant to me.she was my best pal,my mentor, my rock and my best friend. She was like another sister to me. i loved being with her. Her age was never an issue to me. i always felt like she was my age. i will miss her forever.I lost my movie partner,my pal that always worried about me if i was driving home in bad weather.If she couldn’t get me she would call my sister.always worried about me.
i could write a book, and it would be a best seller.
All i can say is i miss her,and there will never be another Olga in my lifetime.
She was blessed with three amazing children, and she always told me that.
i do know that she’s in a better place,and she’s not suffering.

So sorry for your loss, my grandmother Hugette Lamarche worked with Olga at Rock-a-Bye and I remember her fondly. I’m sure my Maman and her are up in heaven reminiscing of those wonderful days, I know my Maman spent her entire check dressing me at that store.
