Olympia Caponera “Dolly” Rosa, 89, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s Campus with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to the late Louis John Rosa. Olympia was born in New Haven on September 4, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena Violano Caponera. She was a secretary at the former Etkind & Solcoff, Inc. for many years. Olympia enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing and crafts. Sundays and holidays meant special family gatherings under the grapevine eating and laughing. Beloved mother of Cheryl Rosa Sullivan and the late Stephen Rosa. Grandmother of Matthew Sullivan. Sister of Concetta (Louis “Junior”) Mastriano and Josephine (John) Horvath. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Verdi 3 East team for their care and support.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Saint Barnabas Church at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ORTV, Inc. 15 Peach Orchard Road, Prospect, CT 06712.
I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Olympia, all though I only knew her a short time she will be greatly missed. R.I.P.
