Ottavio “Art” Ramadei, Jr., 90, of Hamden passed into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Benchmark Assisted Living, Hamden. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Louise Valente Ramadei. Ottavio was born in New Haven on August 15, 1926; son of the late Ottavio and Anna Secchiarole Ramadei, Sr.; attended Boardman Trade School in New Haven, but enlisted in the Army before graduating, served his country faithfully in the US Army Infantry as a corporal and also served as a company cook in the Philippines during WWII. After the war, Ottavio worked as a model and tool maker at MB (Mettler Brothers) in New Haven, Eastern Industries in Hamden, Picker Corporation in Northford, and retired in 1985 from Corometrics in Wallingford. He belonged to AMVETS Post #9 for a number of years. Besides his wife he is survived by his four children- Catherine, John and his wife Dianna, Thomas, and Maria and her husband Thomas, five grandchildren- Stephanie, David, Matthew, Reina and Jennifer and one brother, Alexander Ramadei and his wife Rosalie. Predeceased by a sister Rosina Miceli and her husband Paul, and brothers, Mark, Omera, Anthony and John.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Thursday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
