Paolo Eligio, 88, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at Yale New Haven/St. Raphael Campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Lucia Avallone Eligio. Paolo was born in Caiazzo Province of Caserta, Italy on September 14, 1928; son of the late Carmine and Lucia Savocchia Eligio.  As a young man Paolo moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina and open his own custom clothing manufacturing operation producing  top coats and suits along with a store front to purchase such goods and also shipped to other retailers in the area.  He moved to the United States in April of 1963 where he lived for some time in New York and then moved and settled in Connecticut. He had worked as a custom tailor at Enson’s on Chapel Street in New Haven for over 35 years until his retirement. Paolo loved the outdoors and taking care of the yard with his dog at his side; loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.  Father of Maria Eligio Rubano, son-in-law Mario Rubano, Carmine and Anthony Eligio. Grandfather of Giovanni, Alesandra, Carmela and Mario Rubano Jr.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital, Celentano 3 and to our family for the special care given to our husband, father and grandfather.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 11:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Saint Therese Church at 12 noon. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.  The visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 pm
