Patricia (DeAngelis) Afragola died peacefully on December 29, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born in Denver, Colorado on August 4, 1939 to late Anthony and Josephine Pacello DeAngelis. She is predeceased by her brother John Richard DeAngelis (Giselle) and her husband of 46 years Alphonse “Allie” Afragola.
She graduated from Hamden High School and shortly thereafter married the love of her life. They settled in Hamden where they raised their family. She worked for many years for the Town of Hamden at Michael J. Whalen Jr. High School and later at Hamden High School until her retirement.
She enjoyed family trips to Lake George, Florida, Las Vegas and Denver. She loved the casino, the beach and spent summers with her family at the Beach House and Beach Club. She had the joy of lifelong friends and shared so many special memories. She was an exceptional baker who loved to share her special Christmas cookies with all.
She is survived by her children Donna (Frank) Sandillo with whom she resided, Michele (Michael) Carrubba, and Alphonse. She was the best friend and Noni to Francesco & Mia Sandillo and Gabrielle and Olivia Carrubba who were by far the greatest joys of her life. Each shared a special place on Noni’s Wall of Fame. She also is survived by in-laws Fredrick and Elizabeth Afragola and Ann Afragola; special cousins Rosemary DeAngelis, MaryAnn Nesto and Sandra Marcucci as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to share a heartfelt thank you to her special care givers who were with her around the clock during the past two months and showered her with love and compassion.
The visiting hours will be Friday, Jan. 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A parlor service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6:30 PM. Interment will be privately held next to her husband in All Saints Cemetery. Donations in her name can be made to Sacred Heart Academy, 265 Benham Stree, Hamden CT 06514 or the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
To the entire Afragola family: we are so sorry for your loss. We will always remember the good times growing up as cousins in Hamden. Hopefully she’s reunited with her beloved Allie and at peace!! Live to all of you and God bless!!
My heartfelt condolences to the Affragola family. My friend Suz and I had too many laughs together and during these times she still manages to put a smile on my face remembering them all. Her kindness and generosity traveled far and I was blessed to have her call me her friend . Forever in my heart ❤️
