Paul Alexander Hinman, 76, of Harkers Island, NC, formerly of North Haven, CT passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC. Paul was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after a long career as the Vice President of Operations at Plastic Forming Company in Woodbridge; and was currently the owner / operator of the Ward’s Creek RV Park. He was an avid member of the West Ridge Volunteer Fire Department in North Haven before moving to Harkers Island. Paul joined the Harkers Island Fire and Rescue Department in November 1999 where he remained an active member and the Department Board President until his passing. During his time with the HIF&R he held the following positions: Rescue Captain, Rescue Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, and Fire Chief which transitioned into Department Chief before his retirement in 2013. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra Hinman; daughter, Kristin Ranciato; two stepdaughters, Pamela (Keith)Wilkens; Lisa (Andy) Kipperman; two stepsons, Jeffrey Armstead; Daniel(Lori) Schaefer; three granddaughters, Victoria Ranciato; Bianca Ranciato; Megan Kipperman; and brother, David (Lois) Hinman.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment service will be private in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to the Harkers Island Fire and Rescue Association PO Box 273 Harkers Island, NC 28531.
