It is with a broken heart and deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my loving husband, Peter Alphonse Leonardo, Jr. born in Hamden, Connecticut to the late Peter Alphonse Leonardo, Sr. and late Louise Bracale Leonardo. Peter passed away at home in Longs, SC, on Saturday, April 23, 2022 after a brief illness. Peter is survived by his loving wife Sharon of twenty five years, his son Peter Vincent and his wife April, and two grandchildren, Luciano and Camellia Leonardo of Higganum. He is also survived by his twin sister, Ann Palmeri and her husband Frank of Cheshire his sister Beatrice DiGirolamo and husband Carlo of Madison, and two nieces, Alicia Mirando of Clinton and Gina Stewart of Boston, MA. He was also predeceased by this nephew Michael Palmeri. Peter grew up in Hamden and retired after 38 years from Yale University. During Pete’s many years at Yale Facilities he demonstrated his unique artistic talent in the repair and creation of stained and etched glass panels and windows. His talent also included the restoration of many Tiffany-style light fixtures and chandeliers. He served in the US Army Reserves 729th Railroad Operating Battalion for four years and was honorable discharged. His passions were landscaping his homes and the restoration of his MGA and MGTF automobiles (his Garage Queens). He was a member of the Connecticut MG Club and designed numerous T-shirts for the British by the Sea car show. Peter will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. One of his outstanding qualities was the ease with which he could make many new and long-time friends. He will be sorely missed by all and forever in our hearts.                    A Prayer Service will be conducted in The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Military Burial will immediately follow the Prayer Service at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the SC Hospice Care.
