Ralph J. (Battipaglia) Barrie, 96, of Northford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021, at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette Faggio Barrie who was the Love of his life. Ralph was born in New Haven on June 28th, 1924 and was the son of the late Alphonse and Maria Grazia Iannone Battipaglia. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WW II aboard the L.ST.S. and received three letters of commendations, along with three medals for service to his country. Ralph had worked for the Continental Baking Company for 28 years until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local #443. He enjoyed playing bocci and golf with his buddies, writing poetry (some of which were recognized by the American Library of Poets). Ralph was one of the founders, past secretary, and past president of the Prihillian Club. Father of Donna (David) Ales and Sally (Brian) Mahoney. Grandfather of Michael Mahoney, Jeffrey Mahoney, and Andrea (Rob) Edwards. Also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his sisters, Rose Nuzzo, Mary Battipaglia, and brothers Joseph, Dominic, Al Battipaglia.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning, June 29th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon in the St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Register Fresh Air Fund.
Ralph was one of a kind. Always smiling, always up for a good conversation and always a gentleman. Jeannette, I know that he is watching you every day. Admiring his beautiful wife and the strength that you have in all things, most especially your faith. May he Rest In Peace with the angels and may you find the peace of heaven in knowing he is safe.

Jeanette, my heart is broken for you. He was your soul mate. What a wonderful man. Always smiling and so in love with his soul mate.
