Ralph J. Console Jr., 78, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Lorraine Colavolpe Console. Ralph was born in New Haven on February 10, 1945 and was the son of the late Ralph Console Sr. and Grace Alvino Console. He had worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. Ralph was a member of the Saint Andrew’s Men’s Society, Pine Grove Men’s Club and was a retired West Haven Volunteer Fire Fighter. He enjoyed gardening, cooking for friends and family, and never shied away from a good time. Ralph’s greatest joy was being a “Papa” to his grandchildren who he loved unconditionally. Beloved father of Michael (Mary) Lucibello Jr., Tracey (Kevin) Sweeney, Ralph P. (Tracy) Console, and Teresa “Terry” Console. Loving Papa to Shannon, Joseph (Laura), and Sean (April) Sweeney, Ashley (Chris) Witkins, Isabella, Emily, and Nicolas Console. Great Papa of Charlie and Jack Sweeney, Jack and Owen Witkins. Brother of Antoinette Proto, Dolores DePalma and the late Louise Ristaino. Also survived by many special nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention, who he loved so very much.
The visiting hours will be on Friday morning, March 31st from 8:30 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Devine Mercy Parish at St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden at 12 noon. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford 06405.

To Lorraine and the entire Console Family : Elaine and I extend our prayers and thoughts at the passing of everyone’s friend, Ralph. Remembering the days during the construction of Lorenzo’s when we walked through the “empty” space, with Ralph and Lorenzo giving an image of what was to be. Remembering the “horse” decal on his truck, one would think he was a rancher. His best companion in the front seat with him always. For those who knew him, and visited Lorenzo’s, you had to go to “Ralph’s” corner booth and “pay homage”. Always with a quick wit and a smile, we will truly miss him. A true “Gentleman”!!
