Raymond E. DeNardis, 94, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with colon cancer and dementia with his family by his side. Ray was born on September 16, 1929, in Colchester, CT to Anna and Peter DeNardis. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Criscuolo DeNardis. Ray was predeceased by his Mom, Anna DeNardis, Dad Peter DeNardis, Brothers Frank DeNardis and Edward DeNardis and Daughter Deborah DeNardis. Along with his wife of 68 years he is survived by his Sons Raymond DeNardis of Wallingford, CT, Richard DeNardis and daughter in law Diane Caprio DeNardis of North Branford, CT; Grandchildren Christopher DeNardis (Crystal) of Wallingford, CT, Chad DeNardis (Lonnie) of Boston, MA, Carly DeNardis (Kam) of North Darmouth, MA, Gary DeNardis (wife Kylie O’Connor) of Brooklyn, NY and Alyssa Kelly (husband Michael) of East Brunswick, NJ. Ray served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean War. He resided in North Haven, raising his family for 62 years. Ray retired in 1991 after 38 years at United Illuminating as a Lineman. During Ray’s retirement he enjoyed trips to Florida, golfing and watching UConn Women’s basketball, Giants and Red Sox games. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, which were the light of his life every time he had a visit. The family would like to thank Dr. Gerard Fumo and his amazing staff at Midstate Hospital and Dr. Vincent Varilla at Midstate Hospital for all the kindness and compassion during his struggle.
The visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 21st from 4 to 7 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Friday at 12 noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065.

Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wallingford Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics. We were founded in 2017 by Mark Halliday and Robert Boucher. Our Veterans are an exceptional group and our intention is to offer assistance and support.
At this very difficult time, our group would like to honor the loss of Raymond DeNardis as a fallen brother.
