So very sorry to hear of Ray’s passing.
Just this one funny story:
There was this flag football game and I didn’t know much about American football, having recently migrated from Ireland. So anyway Ray was the quarterback and I was a wide receiver (I think). In the huddle Ray made up this signal that would mean that I ran from wide on one side to wide on the other. As you can guess, Ray called that signal and off I went.
Problem was that Ray was in shotgun, about three steps behind Center. Not knowing exactly what I was doing, I ran between Ray and the Center…and of course the Center snapped the ball just as I arrived between them.
What happened next was amazing. The ball hit me in the groin and I doubled over in shock and some pain.
And Ray; well Ray was rolling around on the ground laughing. Pretty soon everyone was in the dirt and laughing too. We didn’t know then that unexpected things (there were others too) would be fond and cherished memories…
Rest In Peace Ray; a good friend…and missed.
So sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathy for your family.
