Richard D. Fracasso “The Good Kid” was called home in a peaceful manner, with his family by his side, on March 6, 2021 in his 92 year.
He was born in New Haven, CT in 1929, and spent his life as a hardworking, dedicated, and loving man. He worked for many years at his father’s meat market, John Perrie & Co., and co-owned two furniture stores, Fracasso Bros., Inc. and Anne-Richard Interiors Inc, where he sold and restored furniture. He was a charter member at his favorite social club, The Prihillian Club, where he served on the executive board, as well as cooked for, played cards with, and shared many meals with his friends. During his later years, he worked as a butcher and meat cutter at Longhini Sausage Co. He served our country as a corporal in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany where he worked as the head meat cutter.
Richard will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us. He is survived by his loving brother Robert, sister-in-law Evelyn, and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
All are welcome for visitation from 11:15am-11:45am before a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on March 11, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Mass will be followed by a burial with full military honors at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Community Living Center Heroes Harbor, West Haven VAMC, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT 06516 in appreciation for the comfort and care they provided him in his last days.
My family remember Richie as a gentleman. Kind and friendly to everyone he knew. I spent 6 days in the VA hospital with Richie in the bed next to me. We helped each through a difficult time. I carry a photo of Richie that I will carry all the time.
My heart goes out to the family.
His nice Paula was a comfort as well as a fantastic care giver to him. Richie loved his family and often spoke of some of his fond memories traveling and vacationing with them.
Richie is missed by many friends and we will carry him in our prayers and memory
Richie was called to heaven because God needed good souls to brighten the heavens.

Richie was one of the nicest person I have ever met. His smile and has good nature shined over everyone who knew him. My fondest memories of Richie was at the Prihillian club where he would always be working hard in the kitchen and helping with the meals. All the guys loved Richie and he will be missed
