We regretfully announce the passing of Richard Joseph Riccitelli Sr (Poppie), of Hamden, CT. Richard was born on January 31, 1937 and passed on October 25th 2021 surrounded by his loving sons after complications following a spinal surgery. He was predeceased by his parents Carmen Riccitelli and Anna Esposito Riccitelli and his two brothers: Marcel and Anthony. Rich was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven and was an exceptionally tough man who proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict.  Rich worked as an operating engineer of heavy equipment before transitioning his career to become a top sales producer in the insurance industry. Poppie’s greatest joys included attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, wintering in Florida with his beloved wife and enjoying home cooked meals with his family. Rich is survived by his loving wife Lorraine of 59 years, sons Richard (Debra) Drew and Lucas of Cheshire, Troy (Robin) Tyler, Zachary, Bryce, Kyle of Monroe and Wayne (Marisa) Ava, Reece of North Haven as well as sisters Madeline, Anita and Sandy, Marie.

The visiting hours will be Saturday morning, Oct. 30th from 10:00 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden at 12 noon.  Interment will follow with full military honors in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
