Richard James Pierpont, Sr., 78, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Mary Louise DeBiase Pierpont. Richard was born in New Haven on September 3, 1939 and was the son of the late Shepard and Anna Gottstein Pierpont. He was a graduate of Eli Whitney Technical School. Richard had worked as an electrician and mechanical supervisor for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroads, Penn Central, Con-Rail and later for Metro North for 43 years until his retirement. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Union Local #747, the American Railway Supervisor Association, the Jolly Timer Seniors, East Haven and the North Haven Sons & Daughters of Italy Lodge #2807. Richard was a Boston Red Sox fan, was a great bowler, loved dancing on the green and going to the casino. Richard was a special and wonderful husband, father and grandfather; his family was his everything and he loved them all unconditionally. Father of Richard J. Pierpont, Jr. and Ronald Pierpont. Father-in-law of Beth and Danielle Pierpont. Grandfather of Ryan, Sarah, Joseph, Amanda and Michael Pierpont. Brother of Robert (Greta) Pierpont, Betty Ritter and the late Dorothy Fortier.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday morning at 11:00 with the Rev. Edward Cornell officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:00 until time of his service. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

I am currently on vacation and heard about the sad news of a dear friend and co-worker. Rich was an excellent foremen at Metro North with great work ethics and getting the job done when needed.As a friend he spoke highly of his family and proud of his grandchildren, we had many conversations about family.
