Richard “Moe” Fuller, Sr., 79, of North Haven passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Doris “Dorie” Jensen Fuller. Moe was born in New Haven on January 19, 1939 and was the son of the late Robert and Marie Craig Fuller. He worked for more than 40 years at the Connecticut Container Corporation as a dye mounter where he was known as “Packy”. “Coach Moe” as he was affectionately known touched the lives of hundreds of North Haven athletes throughout the years. Moe was a flag football coach for more than 25 years; coached the North Haven Women’s Softball and Max Sinoway little league; was involved with the North Haven Men’s Softball. He was a fixture for many years with the North Haven Boys Scout Troop #805. Even through his battle with cancer he would go to the bowling alley with his grandson Shane to hang out, mentor and help other bowlers and would try to critique their bowling and giving them solutions to enhance their skills. Everyone who met Moe knew he was a “Great Guy” and always quick with a smile. Moe had many years of enjoyment fishing on the beaches of Cape Cod and on his Boston Whaler he named “Boat”. He enjoyed watching his beloved UConn Women’s basketball, the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. Family was Moe’s ultimate pride and joy, he was extremely proud of his son Richard for starting his nuisance wildlife business; proud of his son-in-law Henry for becoming a volunteer North Haven Fire Police Officer with the West Ridge Volunteer Fire Department; proud of his daughter Alice for helping to start the North Haven Community (a community he loved) Emergency Response Team (CERT). Father of Alice Bessonett and her husband Henry, Richard Fuller, Jr. and his wife Danielle. Grandfather to the “Lights of his Life” Shane Fuller, Shannon Bessonett, Sarah Bessonett and Brody Fuller. Brother of Joan Dumont and her husband Richard, Cynthia Fuller and the late Robert L. Fuller and Marie “Tootsie” Horvath. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to the Atrinity Home Healthcare expecially Jennifer, Mary and Errol who Moe considered a “brother from another mother” and the Connecticut Hospice, Homecare.
Funeral services will be privately held. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Ridge Volunteer Fire Association for CERT c/o West Ridge Volunteer Fire Association, 1331 Ridge Road, North Haven, Connecticut 06473

So sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts with all of you. ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Moe was one of my early mentors that guided me in developing my passion for football. Even more so, Moe had a significant role in my family’s bonding through sport. A bond we still have today and for that I am grateful. Please accept my warmest regards.
Moe was a one if a kind. He was always there for you and would help in any way. Moe always had a laugh for you. I will miss him dearly
I am sorry to learn of this loss. I have many fond memories of Mr. Fuller. He was a wonderful father and always took time to show an interest in the children in our neighborhood. I remember him helping Alice and the rest of us build our “Evil Keneivel” bicycle ramps over on Ball Road so they would be safe for us aspiring daredevils! He was always lending a watchful eye over our rollerskating and skateboard activities and our pet pony Rocky, feeding him carrots and apples. He was such a nice man. He will be missed.
Our deepest condolences to the family, especially Alice and Henry. He must have been bursting with pride that Alice completed the CERT training! Prayers of strength and peace for you. Love Mike and Joy.
So sorry for your loss. He will be missed and the void of his presence a regular feeling. Take peace in a life well lived. Prayers to you all.
My deepest condolences with you and your family.
May find piece in the beautiful memories you shared together.
You made us feel so special with every conversation we had. And made our kids feel so welcome as you made them smile. You will be so missed. Our condolences to family and everyone who lives he touched.
A Tribute to MOE:
We met Moe approximately 37 years ago, and have been friends of the family ever since. We have been blessed to have had Moe, his wife, Dorie, and their family as part of our lives. He was truly a loving ,devoted husband, father and friend. I would describe him as a gentle soul. His love for children was evident in the volunteer work he did and the way he did it, making sports and scouting FUN for all he came in contact with. He also had a big heart when it came to animals. He loved his dogs and enjoyed feeding the wild birds and chipmunks. Sharing the things he enjoyed was Moe’s way of living …..boating, fishing, and watching a sun set to name a few. He was a giving person. Good- bye friend, until we meet again, God Bless.
TO MOE’s family, we are so glad that Moe has been part of our lives and extend our sincere condolences to you you all.
Dear Dory and family, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband, father, and my brother. I am remembering the rock he was for all of us. On behalf of myself and both my sons , thank you for everything and please find the peace that you deserve in your loss.
Aunt Cindy.
Tribute to Moe:
We have had the pleasure of knowing the Fuller family for over 36 years. We got to know Moe pretty well. I would describe Moe as a gentle soul. This was evident in the way he treated kids on his sports team and in boy scouts. He always strived to make their experiences FUN and to help them out in any way he could. Moe loved vacationing on the Cape in the town of Wellfleet. He and his wife, Dorie, graciously included our family, year after year to spend a week with them on the Cape. Moe, the gentle soul, would always stop at the Bird Store for seed to feed the birds and chipmunks at their camp grounds. I observed for many years how Moe and Dorie always made sure the kids were having fun; making sure the kids were having fun is just how they viewed life. Moe loved the Cape and graciously shared his joys: fishing, boating , and watching a sunset to name a few. Our family has been blessed to have Moe , Dorie , and their family as part of our lives. Thank you MOE. God Bless You …until will meet again.
Love and sincere condolences to all of Moe’s loved ones.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Moe was great I remember always seeing him at flag football
My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of need. Coach Moe was my coach for flag football and he never gave up on me when I wanted to. I always had a problem catching the ball and he always told me that I would get it one day. May you Rest In Peace Coach. Thanks for all the memories.
My deepest sympathy to all of you. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Much love to you all
Growing up Moe was my “other” dad. I feel fortunate to have known Moe and will miss him dearly. He was a laid-back guy, quick with a joke. Heart as big as they come. So friendly, sometimes if felt like the world new him; “Hey Moe”, “How’s it going Moe?, and my favorite (to his son Rich) “Hey… Your Moe’s son”. Camping with the Scouts, fishing at the Cape, playing cards, simply having dinner together… Going to miss you very much.
Laurel and I wish to send our deepest condolences to our dear friend Alice and her entire family. May the many fond memories of your Dad help carry you through these most difficult of times. Love Bill and Laurel.
To Richard’s family,
I have such fond memories of him from his time at therapy at Montowese and I just wanted to extend condolences for your loss. Despite what challenges he was going through, he ALWAYS had a smile on his face and tried to make others in the room smile as well, whether it was asking about their day or wearing one of his “goofy” shirts to get people to laugh!
It was evident that he was such a family man, so I wish all of his family members comfort in the wonderful memories that you’ve gotten to share with him. I will miss his smile and personality for sure!
Sincerely,
Lauren
I just found an old trophy from baseball and thought I would look up my first coach. So very sorry to see he just passed. I don’t remember much from back then but I can remember coach Moe well. He was a great coach and great with us kids.
