Rita Fuggi DiCapua of Orange formerly of Hamden for many years passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital /St. Raphael campus with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. DiCapua. Rita was born in New Haven on January 4, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Antoniette Meglio Fuggi. She had worked as a secretary for Southern Connecticut State University. Rita was a devoted parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden, enjoyed taking walks, dancing, shopping, singing along with Frank Sinatra, but most of all spending time with her family who she loved unconditionally. Loving mother of Judith Donroe (Joseph), Anthony DiCapua, Jr., Rosemary Castiline (John) and Stephen DiCapua (Karen). Beloved grandmother of Sarah, Joseph, Adam, Jessica, Jenni, John, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Emily, Stephen and Olivia. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Dominic and Henry Fuggi, and sisters Gloria Votto and Marion Rubertone. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Maplewood at Orange for all the comfort and care they have given to Rita, affectionately known as mama over the past six years.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning, August 2nd from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
Mrs D was an amazing women, mother and friend to so many. She will be missed but her legacy of love for family and friends will live on though her children, grand children and great grand children. Thank you Mrs D for allowing me to be a small part of your life.
