Robert E. Decker II, 44, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side.
Robert was born in New Haven on September 21, 1978 and was the son of Robert E. Decker Jr. and the late Christina Malerba Decker. In addition to his father Robert, he is survived by his grandmother Marjorie Decker, sister Rachel Decker (Stephen Godfrey), and brothers, Joseph Decker (Jessica), and Rocco Decker. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert grew up in Wallingford and graduated from Sheehan High School. After graduation he worked as a carman for Metro North Railroad and later as a welder in the construction field. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends joking around and making people laugh. He was always the first person to lend a helping hand when needed. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed working on landscaping projects and hanging out by his pool. He also had a passion for auto racing, building and working on Volkswagen cars, and attending car shows. Robert especially loved spending time with his niece and nephews, and truly loved them all unconditionally.
The visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 10th, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 4 to 7 PM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday morning January 11th at 10:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
My deepest sympathy to his loved ones …. He left way too soon! RIP lil bro.
It’s with my deepest sympathy and sorrow that i send heartfelt condolences ;at this difficult time ,to Bobby’s family & friends. WE lost a good soul;WAY TOO SOON! I have had the priveledge, for over 20 years, to call Bobby “my friend”. He was caring, loyal, loving , funny & always full of information. He will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. We will cherish fond memories and find comfort in having had the chance to call Bobby “A FRIEND” & knowing he is now at peace. Fly high with the angels now Bob. RIP.
Though I didn’t know Robert, my heart goes out to all those involved in Robert’s life. Until you experience, you would never really know what you all have been going through. God bless!
To the family of Bobby Decker. I pray the Lord’s peace be upon you. These seasons in our life even if prepared for are never easy. I pray in Bobby’s last moments he was overjoyed at the love he was receiving from those who were by his side. After this life it is a mystery, but the greater hope is for a grand reunion where we all come under the glorious love and care of God Almighty who is the Father to the broken hearted. May God give each and everyone strength during this time of grieving. God bless you all.
Respectfully,
Eric Torres
