Robert E. O’Brien, 81, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29th, 2021, at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Marilyn A. Tammaro O’Brien. Robert was born in New Haven on March 30th, 1940 and was the son of the late Francis and Larraine Hurlburt O’Brien. He served his country faithfully in the US Army. Robert had worked for 42 years at Pratt & Whitney until retiring as a supervisor. He enjoyed working around his yard, spending many years vacationing in Aruba with his wife and was a New England Patriots fan. Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his granddaughter Kaylee who he loved beyond words. Father of Jeffrey (Carol) O’Brien and Andrea O’Brien. Grandfather of Kaylee (fiancé Kaylee Havanick) O’Brien. Brother of Francis Silverman and the late Marjory DelGiudice and David Schwartz. Brother-in-law of Barbara Schwartz and the late Evelyn Silverman. Also survived by his former son-in-law John O’Brien
The visiting hours will be Friday morning, Sept. 3rd from 9:00 to 10:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietralcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road, East Haven at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr. #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
