Robert Everett Keyes, 70, of Hamden, entered into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at MidState Medical Center with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of 25 years to Lydia Jacobsen Keyes. Robert was born in New Haven on November 28, 1953, and was the son of the late Everett and Dorothy Funaro Keyes. He worked as a security officer at Yale School of Medicine for 32 years. Robert was a devoted pastor at Central Baptist Church in Hamden for many years. He was dedicated to our Lord and would always try to share Christ with all who would be open to listening. Robert was a true outdoorsman, enjoying long hikes through the woods and but most of all loved long walks on Anchor Beach in Milford with his wife Lydia by his side. He was the brother of Judith (William) Gibson.
The visiting hours will be on Saturday morning, February 24th from 9:30 to 10:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 10:30. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Avenue, New Haven.
Dear Family. Bob was always the friendly face at the security desk at 333 Cedar Street, Yale Medical School. His bible was always with him and any free moment he was reading sections that meant the most to hime. He always had everything under control no matter what was going on. From tour groups, to important visitors, to the fire department responding to a fire alarm system activation in the Sterling Hall of Medicine, there was never a problem, just another day. I will miss him. Please take care. Doug Golden. Yale University Office of the Fire Marshal, Yale Medical School. 1985 – 2004.
