Robert J. Barcella, Sr., 78, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Yale New Haven/Smilow Cancer Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Marlene Dunsing Barcella. Robert was born in New Haven on January 31, 1939 and was the son of the late Mario and Angeline Pesenti Barcella. He served his country in the Army National Guard of Connecticut. He was a graduate of Hamden High School class of 1958. As a member of the Teamsters Local #443, Robert was a driver for Carrano’s Express, CBL, and Stop & Shop Distribution Center. He also was the co-owner of B&B Auto and Truck Detailing. Up until the time of his passing, Robert worked as a driver for Toyota of Wallingford, a job that he held close to his heart. He was also a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection. An avid gardener, Robert loved the outdoors and caring for the beautiful gardens around his home. He also loved driving cross-country to Las Vegas with his wife and to Maine for yearly family trips. Most of all, Robert loved spending time with his family that he loved unconditionally. Robert is survived by his daughter Susan (Joseph) Celotto of Wallingford, his son Robert (Lynette) Barcella, Jr. of Branford, grandchildren Christopher and Nicole Celotto, sister Eleanor Tolla and her late husband Mario, and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his beloved dog and companion, Rocky. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford on Friday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following at All Saints Cemetery with full military honors. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.

something. Anything! He’d say, “What’s up
kid?!” The three of us (Bob, myself, and
