Ruth Diane Rau Hinman, 79, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. Ruth was born in New Haven on July 1, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Bradley Rau. She earned additional training and certification to become a medical assistant and had worked for the Hospital of St. Raphael Pathology Department and later for the former RJD Orthotics. Ruth enjoyed doing arts and crafts, was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Girls basketball fan. Mother of Jeffrey K. Armstead (Elizabeth Brownell) and Kristin Ranciato (Neil). Grandmother of Cassie Truell (Valerie), Chelsea Orlando (Craig), Victoria and Bianca Ranciato. Great-Grandmother of Calin Orlando. Also survived by her soulmate John Spisak and her best friend Maria Czako.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 6 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr. #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
