Salvatore Rapuano, Sr., 83, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Hamden Health Care Center with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Maria Cutillo Rapuano. Salvatore was born in San Salvatore Telesino, Province of Benevento, Italy on April 16, 1934 and was the son of the late Amedeo and Antonietta DePalma Rapuano. He worked as a laborer for many years for Leonard’s Concrete and later for Sweeney Construction until his retirement. Salvatore enjoyed gardening, making wine, hunting and most of all spending time with his family whom he loved unconditionally especially Christmas Eve which was always at his home. Beloved father of Antonietta (Mario) Iamunno, Anna (Giuseppe) Pellino and Salvatore (Fatima) Rapuano, Jr. Grandfather of Fortuna (Fedele) Menesello, Maria (Luciano) Havens, Gennaro and Bianca Iamunno, Joseph, Michael and Elizabeth Pellino, Salvatore III and Sofia Rapuano.  Great grandfather of Adriano Claudio Menesello and Luciano Mario Havens.  Brother of Luigi (Concetta) Rapuano, Ida (Domenic) Gentile, Rosaria (Pasquale) Occhibove and the late John (Enela) Rapuano, Maria DeFillippo and Angela (Gennaro) Colella.  Also survived by a brother in law Americo DeFillippo, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  The family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to all the nurses and aides at the Hamden Health Care Center for the excellent care and comfort they provided.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 9:15.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.  Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
