Salvatore “Red” Nuzzo, 71, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Natalie Aiello Nuzzo. Red was born in New Haven on December 10, 1946 and was the son of the late Salvatore Nuzzo and Lucille Pisacano Lawrence. He had worked for Connecticut Container Corporation for 35 years until his retirement as a traffic manager. Red was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Father of Salvatore Nuzzo Jr., Jacquelyn (Bill) Carbone and Samantha Nuzzo. Grandfather of Kelso and Meadow Carbone, Lucianna and Isabella Nuzzo and the late Luciano Nuzzo. Brother of Richard (Betsy) Nuzzo, Denise (Cliff) Castellano and the late Dennis Nuzzo. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday morning at 8:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 pm.
A wonderful “red” light has left us…may he rest in peace.

I mourn the passing of Red. I remember with much gratitude his kindness and dedication to the parish during my years as pastor of Our Lady of Pompeii. I always admired and appreciated his hard work in the kitchen during the days of our Carnival. May he rest in the peace of Our Lord Jesus.

I just heard of Sal’s passing. My hear goes out to the family. I worked with Sal at Conn Container for 10 years. Without his help I would never have lasted that long. I thank him for his help and friendship. May the lord keep and protect him.
