Sharon Lynn Galante Burke, 50, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2022, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of Harry Stephen Burke. Sharon was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 28, 1972, and was the daughter of Patricia Behanna Galante and the late August A. Galante. She was a 1991 graduate of Trumbull High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin Pierce University and a Master’s Degree from the University Hartford. Sharon worked in the News Industry for years and held employment with Fox 61, where she won an Emmy Award, WTNH and NESN. She was most recently employed with the Connecticut Department of Social Services as a Media Specialist. She also served as Adjunct Professor, teaching Communications for several Colleges and Universities including UCONN. Sharon was a standout athlete at Trumbull High School, playing volleyball, softball, and basketball, where she currently holds the record for 1000 points in her three years of school. She continued playing volleyball and softball at Franklin Pierce University. Following college, Sharon played volleyball in the adult circuit, where she met her husband. An avid golfer, Sharon was a member of the Hunter’s Women’s’ Golf League and often played with her husband especially on their trips to Florida. She was a strong advocate against domestic violence ever since losing a close friend. Above all, the light of Sharon’s eye was her daughter Samantha Lynn, she enjoyed coaching her in volleyball, softball, and basketball. In addition to her mother, husband and daughter, Sharon was the Sister of Kevin (Cheri) Galante. Daughter-in-law of Harry A. and Lorraine C. Burke. Sister-in-law of Dorian and Robert Santoemma, Paul R. and Theresa Burke. Also survived by her dearest friends Marcia Petrucelli and Nick Candido, many nieces, nephews and her faithful companions Ruby and Riely. Sharon will be greatly missed by her family who will cherish her memory eternally.
The visiting hours will be Wednesday, July 6 from 4 to 7 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 7:00. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions may be made via Venmo to the family to defray the costs associated with her sudden passing @Harry-Burke-5.
I am so sorry for your loss. Although I only saw Sharon at Dori’s over the years, every memory of her is one of warmth and kindness. Sharon was fun to be with. She always had a beautiful smile on her face, and that’s how I will always remember her.

Words can’t express the shock and sorrow of your loss. I will miss having her yell the name she used for me across the golf course or crowded room. I’ll miss her cheerful attitude. So sorry Harry.

My condolences to the Burke family on the loss of a wonderful person. I had the privilege of coaching Sharon in summer rec. softball many years ago. I loved her competitiveness, athleticism, sense of humor, and joy of life. She will be deeply missed. May she Rest In Peace.
