Shirley DeCarlo DiGirolamo, 93, a resident of North Haven for 63 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, at The Landing of North Haven.  She was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late John DiGirolamo.  Shirley was born in West Haven on February 23rd, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Dominic and Martha Manchester DeCarlo. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1947 and had worked as a Library Paraprofessional at Mill Road and Clintonville Schools in North Haven and was affectionally known to the neighborhood and students as “Mrs. D”.  Shirley was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church where she sang with their choir for many years. She loved the holidays spending time with family and friends, loved to cook and passed on her talents but not her secrets to her sons. Shirley and her late husband enjoyed traveling extensively over the years with dear friends from the neighborhood and family. Mother of Mark DiGirolamo (Karen) and Randy DiGirolamo (Kim). Grandmother of Kristina DiGirolamo Paul (Dan) and Barry DiGirolamo (Casey). Great-grandmother of Elizabeth Rose Paul and Nolan Thomas Paul.  Sister-in-law of Carlo and Beatrice DiGirolamo, and Lorraine Caldwell. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews all of which were her favorite.  Predeceased by her sister Eleanor Ross (Frederick).  Shirley’s family would like to send thanks to the nurses, caregivers and staff of The Landing of North Haven who kept her safe and loved.

The visiting hours will be Thursday, June 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday morning, June 9th at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, Wallingford at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery
