Shirley Mercer Hamilton, 98, of Hamden and Wallingford passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4 , 2024 at the Whispering Pines, East Haven. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond B Hamilton. Shirley was born in New Haven on July 28, 1925 and was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Harkness Mercer. She had worked for the former Imprint Sportswear for many years. Shirley was a longtime member of the Olivet Baptist Church where she sang in their choir and taught Sunday school. Predeceased by her daughters, Jeanne Kazzi and Sharon Hamilton, sisters Beverly Shaw and Marion Buehler. Survived by her son-in-law, Jeff Kazzi, Sr. of East Haven, two grandchildren, Leanne and Kevin Hay and a great grandson Aaron Hay all of California. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 9th at 11:00 in Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Avenue, New Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southington, CT.
