Simon J. Forgione, Jr., 89, of East Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28th, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Carmel Aritta Forgione.  Simon was born in New Haven on December 12, 1932, and was the son of the late Simon J. and Philomena Arpino Forgione, Sr.  He served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean War and had worked as a painter for J.C. Morgan Company for many years until his retirement. Simon was a talented artist, an amateur musician and led a full and enjoyable life. Father of Gayle (Carol Ferraro) Forgione and Cheryl (Joseph,Sr.) Florentino. Stepfather of Mary Chiaro, Antoinette (Jerry) Chiaro-Yukash and Patricia (Peter,Jr.) Cappetta. Grandfather of Joseph Florentino, Jr., Lisa Marchand, Michael Florentino, Joseph Coombes, Stephen Yukash, Peter Cappetta, III and Jessica Cappetta. Great-Grandfather of Cheyanne Marchand and Charlotte Florentino. Pre-deceased by his first wife Katherine Daley Forgione.

The visiting hours will be Wednesday, October 5th from 8:30 to 10:30 am in the Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Bernadette’s Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven, at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
