Stanley W. Zilinski Sr. of North Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. Stanley was 99 and a half and would always say “I’m almost 100 you know”! Stanley was born in Manhattan, NY on August 19, 1924. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Stella Smith Zilinski before her passing in May 2003. They were married on August 25, 1946. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy. Stanley owned his own Bar “Princess Inn” in Hicksville, NY before retiring down to sunny Del Ray Beach Florida. He later became a security guard at a Boca Raton condo, he really enjoyed seeing all the residents and then sharing their stories with his wife when he came home as well as spending time at the beach and going out for those early bird specials.
Father of his loving twin Son’s Stanley Jr. and his wife Yvonne, North Haven CT, & Michael and his wife Georgette of 50 years, Middletown, NJ. He had 7 loving grandchildren, Grandfather of Darin (Chomey), Joseph (Stephanie), Adam (Bonnie), Renae (Claude), Lauren (Tim), Bryant (Rachel) and Amanda (Matthew). Great Grandfather to 8 loving great grandchildren who always made him smile (Joseph Jr & Christian, Brady & Lyla, Lily & Violet, Lukas & Isabelle) whom he loved all unconditionally. Lastly, his sister-in-law Helen Rohr (William) of Stony Brook NY, nieces and nephews and many cherished family members who passed before him.
In May 2003 he moved back north to Connecticut where he lived the rest of his life out with his son Stanley, Yvonne, and family. He enjoyed going to see Judy at the Senior Center with his companion Betty Zacharski and spending time with her family (Lisa Szaro, Travis, Jacalyn, Julia in NJ, and Ken Zacharski in CT). He loved playing BINGO and cards with his senior center friends; polka parties; the casino; Big E; word puzzles and playing games; watching sports; and traveling with Betty until her passing in 2016. His family sends a special thank you to his granddaughter Amanda who took such good care of him at home and recently while being treated at Regency House in Wallingford along with the other nurses and therapists.
In lieu of a service, there will be a celebration of his life and his 100th Birthday with his family during the summer. His ashes will be brought to Boca Raton Florida to be alongside his wife Stella.
RIP Lucky, say Hello and hugs to the family in heaven. Will miss you.
My Deepest Sympathy and Prayers to the Zilinski family on the passing of Stanley…My he rest in the Eternal Peace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ…
Stanley was a true gentleman and friend to all. His smile and twinkling eyes could warm up a room which is how I will remember him. Stanley was a regular at the North Haven senior center, everyone waited for him to play cards or bingo. His friends would have his setup of coffee and treats waiting for him. Not because he couldn’t do it himself but because he was so helpful to others that his kindness was contagious. Rest in peace my friend, your smile and twinkling eyes will remain forever in my heart. You will be missed🙏❤️🙏
I remember so much love….
Booming laughter…..
Hugs and tears…..
I can picture you and aunt Stella at the table, in the backyard, so many memories.
