It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Suzanne Don (Billmeyer) Lewis, 65, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of North Haven, who passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Florida. Suzanne is survived by her loving husband, William, and her cherished son, Jesse, both of whom were her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Audrey (Huff) Billmeyer. Suzanne was born in Portland, ME, and moved to Connecticut at the age of three. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in Norwalk, and received her Master’s degree in Family Counseling and her undergraduate degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Suzanne was employed by Anthem Blue Cross/ Blue Shield for over 30 years, leading the hospital claims team for many years, and then as Director of Contract Services prior to her retirement in 2016. Most recently, Suzanne and Bill had made Bradenton, FL their full-time home, where they enjoyed retirement. Suzanne, Bill, and Jesse also loved to travel and have been to places all over the world. Her most beloved place to visit was Paris. Suzanne and Bill also spent a tremendous amount of time living in and visiting New York City, which brought her incredible joy. Recently, Suzanne had also been very involved with the Daughters of The American Revolution and researching her family lineage and heritage. Served for many years on the North Haven Park and Recreation Committee, served on the PTSA and Project Graduation and was a member of the North Haven Son’s & Daughters of Italy. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and several life-long friends.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Saturday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
